» La música de Vangelis se caracteriza por el uso de sintetizadores y ocasionales instrumentos acústicos para crear atmósferas de sonido envolvente, en un tono generalmente grandioso y solemne. No es sencillo enmarcar su música dentro de un género en concreto, aunque es habitual que se le incluya entre las filas de las llamadas Nuevas Músicas, o de forma más amplia como músico clásico contemporáneo. En cualquier caso, la diversidad y complejidad de la obra contenida en su discografía hace difícil su catalogación como artista puramente New Age. (Fuente: wikipedia)
Vangelis es un artista griego de características mundiales (y hasta cósmicas). La primera vez que escuché sobre él y su música envolvente fue finalizando los 90’s cuando mi padre compró este CD siguiendo una tendencia mediatica que entraba con mucha fuerza por esos años acá en Colombia, y supongo que en toda Latinoamérica: La llamada New Age. Al poco tiempo descubrí que esta moda que incluía música relajante, velitas de incienso y no pocos elementos decorativos, era la respuesta global de nuestra humanidad a los altos índices de stress y la velocidad con la que muchos viven el día a día.
Oceanic es un álbum hermoso con sonidos muy relajantes y arreglos que invitan a soñar y entrar en un verdadero estado de calma. Todo el CD esta bellamente mezclado y acompañado por coros míticos y hermosos conjuntos de cuerdas en donde sobresalen unos arpegios de arpas que hacen regresar a este trabajo una y otra vez, toda vez que se busque un spa para los oídos… (spadelosoidos.blogspot.com)»

Jon & Vangelis – Short Stories (1980)
Otro gran aporte de Ernesto.
Released in 1980, their first album «Short Stories» marks the start of the successful collaboration between Jon Anderson and Vangelis. Already recorded in 1979 in only three weeks time, both Vangelis are Jon are prompt to admit that the album actually consists of a series spontaneous recording sessions. Performing as «Jon and Vangelis» the duo quickly makes it into the European charts with their instant hit-single «I hear you now».
