» Novi are primarily a jazz vocalese quartet based in Poland. In 1971, they released a classical vocalese album of Chopin. The following is from the original LP, and later CD reissue, liner notes:
‘Chopin is music. Chopin is Poland. We wanted to sing Chopin to identify with his music, to discover in it what we feel, to find in the great truth that is Chopin’s music a part of our own truth. We shall be happy if time shows that we have succedded.’
Personally, I think they did.»
