BSO – An American In Paris (1951) George Gershwin

Un musical tan brillante y maravilloso que reúne el talento de Gene Kelly, el productor Arthur Freed y la dirección maestra de Vicente Minnelli para llevar a la pantalla toda la magia de una obra cinematográfica considerada como una de las mejores producciones de Hollywood. Kelly interpreta a un pintor americano que vive en el París de la posguerra enamorado de una atractiva dependienta de una tienda de perfumes (Leslie Caron en su magnífico debut cinematográfico). Las secuencias de baile y la música de Gershwin acentúan el romanticismo de la conquista de Kelly. Y el número musical final de diecisiete minutos, combinado con la sinfonía, los impresionantes decorados y el talento único de Kelly para contar una historia a través del baile consiguieron que «Un Americano en París» obtuviera seis Oscars de la academia, incluido el correspondiente al de Mejor Película.
